Two days left until the November Nine take their seats
November only means one thing for poker enthusiasts from around the world – the conclusion of the World Series Of Poker Main Event. It has been a record summer in Las Vegas this year as a record of 79,471 entries were made for the 62 events. The Main Event broke records of its own and the action was covered by ESPN across 22 episodes following the big players and the skilled amateurs on the road to the final table of the biggest poker tournament in the world.
The action moved to Europe for the WSOPE, where Adrian Mateos won the Main Event for a cool €1 million payday. Daniel Negreanu also secured the WSOP Player of the Year title during the Europe segment of the series and all eyes are now on the November Nine.
The final table will be played on November 4-5 and live coverage will be provided by ESPN. There is certainly plenty to play for as a total of $26,662,046 is still up for grabs. Of course, all the players are looking at the $8,359,531 first place prize that also comes with the recognition of winning the WSOP Main Event and the highly coveted diamond bracelet.
JC Tran holds the high stack
Out of the nine players coming back in less than two days, JC Tran is in the best position to go all the way. The 36-year-old poker pro has the most experience and will come back with the most chips in front of him – 38 million. After showing an amazing performance throughout the 7 days of the tournament, it is highly likely that Tran will add a Main Event title to his already impressive poker resume that shows $8.3 million in career winnings and 2 bracelets. Having the short stack and an inexperienced player to his left will certainly help the pro early on.
However, things are far from certain when it comes to poker and surprises are bound to happen when there is so much on the line. There are certainly plenty of great characters to root for: the charming underdog – David Benefield with 6,375,000 chips, the skilled foreigner – Amir Lehavot with 29,700,000, the friendly Canadian – Marc-Etienne McLaughlin and more.
The one thing that is certain is that it will be an exciting final table to watch. Semi-live coverage will start on November 4 at 5:30 PM local time in Las Vegas and will present the action at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino with a 20-minute delay, with hole cards and commentary. Once only three players remain, the action will be paused and resumed on Tuesday, November 5 starting from 6:00 PM. WSOP.com will also provide a live stream for viewers outside the United States. Latestcasinonews.net will present the headlines at the end of both days, so be sure to check back for the results.
